Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 205/40R17 80Y

Bridgestone’s Potenza RE050A is a high performance summer tyre produced for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and sport saloons and is fitted as standard on the supercharged Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG and was developed to provide good traction along with responsive and predictable dry and wet road handling.

The Potenza RE050A has a tread design which features a high grip tread compound moulded into an asymmetric pattern featuring a continuous center rib, large tread blocks and stable shoulder elements providing responsive handling, high-speed stability and traction on dry roads. Circumferential and lateral tread grooves are positioned to expel water out from under the tyre's footprint to reduce the risk of aquaplaning and improve wet traction. A continuous circumferential rib adjacent to the inside shoulder blocks improves wear quality and helps reduce noise throughout the tyre’s life, particularly on cars with alignment settings that specify a negative camber. The internal construction of the Potenza RE050A features twin steel belts reinforced by spiral-wrapped nylon to stabilise the tread area enhancing handling, high speed performance and ride quality while reducing the weight. The fabric cord body and hard rubber sidewall filler help combine uniform ride quality with steering responsivity and lateral stability.

The Potenza RE050A is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
